The Sequia mall was built over time in the early 1970’s. The site and the mall have taken on many updates over the years. MMA was tasked with taking a fresh perspective in transforming the vacated majors into multi-tenant uses breaking up the original Sears box into several new tenants including Nordstrom Rack, Barnes and Nobel, Sprouts and Sola salon. The project redesign is also envisioning the potential de-malling of the mall and creating outdoor lifestyle center with walking streets, outdoor gardens and placemaking opportunities. Several ideas are currently being explored to transform the sequoia mall into the premier shopping and entertainment district of Visalia.
